Leo
Dr. Leo Sánchez was born in Chile and raised in Panama. He has worked with local churches in Venezuela and San José, California. He received his Ph.D. from Concordia Seminary (2003). As a doctoral student, Leopoldo Sánchez was the recipient of a 3-year grant from the Hispanic Theological Initiative of the Pew Charitable Trusts. Dr. Sánchez has been teaching systematic theology at Concordia Seminary since 2004 and was appointed Director of CHS in 2006. His main interests are in pneumatology, Trinitarian theology, and issues related to Hispanic/Latino theology and missions. He lives in St. Louis with his wife Tracy Lynn and their two children, Lucas Antonio and Ana Victoria.
 
 
     
     
 
   Prof. Mark Kempff, Instructor and Curriculum Developer Minimize
Kempff Bio
Prof. Mark (“Marcos”) N. Kempff has served as an LCMS missionary in Latin America for 33 years: Venezuela (1975-2003) and Panama (2003-2008). He also worked in the region as a director of Christian education, theological education program developer, professor, and church planter. From 1986 to 1993, he served as production manager for Cristo Para Todas Las Naciones in Caracas (Christ For All the Nations – International Lutheran Hour Ministries). He also assisted the International Lutheran Council--Latin America Region in developing a network for theological educational institutions through Latin America from 2004 to 2007. He received the B.S. degree (1974), DCE certification (1986), and the M.S. degree (1997) from Concordia University, Seward, Neb. Marcos brings to the CHS a special interest in the areas of family studies (especially, counseling and ministry to the Hispanic family) and Latino/a pedagogy. He and his wife, Ruth, have two daughters and two grandchildren.
